Walle – Tooth Fracture and Cardiomyopathy

By on

endodontics2

Walle had sustained a fracture of one of his upper canine teeth. Fractured teeth cause pain in cats, however cats rarely demonstrate their pain at home. Extraction was needed but Walle also had a heart condition.

endodontics2

After and EKG, chest x-ray and an echocardiogram, Walle was place on a medication to help his heart prior to anesthesia for the extraction. Walle is seen here with Mom, Dad and Dr. Beckman 20 min after the procedure. Heart disease is not always a contraindication for anesthesia. Careful evaluation by a cardiologist will determine whether dogs and cats can handle anesthesia with their existing heart conditions.
